What the heck is a discovery call?

The discovery call is pretty simple.  It is a chance to for you to get to know a little more about the Keller Group, PA and how we help small businesses with their accounting and tax needs.  It is also a chance for us to understand why you have reached out to us.

In no particular order, here are the top reasons that we find people reaching out to us:

1.       Current CPA is not providing the required services or the service level is not adequate. “My CPA won’t return my phone call.”

2.       Just started a business and don’t have any idea what to do next.

3.       Want to outsource the accounting and payroll functions instead of the owner doing it themselves

4.       Want to switch from an internal bookkeeper to outsourced accounting and payroll.

What do we talk about?

First of all, we do not charge for a discovery call.  This is simply a time to get to know each other and your goals – not a time to start working on service.  We get to know about what made you take the step to set up a call with us.  It is a time to talk about what kind of business you are running or starting, the challenges that you face, and fears that you have as you think about growing or even just managing what you have.

This is not a time for judgement

If you have ever been to Planet Fitness or seen their ads on TV, you probably noticed that they promote their business as a “Judgement Free Zone.”  We like to think of our office in the same way.  Sometimes clients feel embarrassed about their lack of knowledge or the way they have been handling accounting or tax matters.  Sometimes the embarrassment comes from burying their head in the sand and not doing anything – and sometimes there have been financially costly mistakes that need to be fixed.  (I will admit to feeling the same way when going to the doctor year after year and know I haven’t been eating enough vegetables – we’ll just leave it at that.)

We get it and we don’t judge.  We see the entire spectrum of behavior from the fanatic in the details to the owner that doesn’t really want to be bothered with much in the way of accounting.  We are in business to make a profit just like you.  We don’t make money from judging; we make money by solving problems and that is what we love to do.

What happens after the Discovery Call

After the call, if we think that it is a mutual fit, the first thing that we will do is make a proposal.  In order to make a proposal, we have to see the following documents:

-          Latest financial statements

-          Last filed tax return

-          A couple months of bank and credit card statements

We may request other items but this is the bare minimum for us to be able to provide you with a quote.  The quote is delivered within a day or two.

How do I set up a discovery call

The easiest way is to click the Schedule Call button at the top of the website.  If you prefer to speak with someone, you can call our office directly.  Once this meeting is scheduled, we will call you at the appointed time to start the process.  Of course, if you are in the area and would like a face to face meeting, that can be scheduled as well.

Sounds Easy

It is easy and it is free.  It’s time to let go of the worries and start taking control.  You really have nothing to lose so click the button and let’s see if it’s a fit!
